"I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me"
(Song of Solomon 7:10).
---The
book of Song of Solomon is precious, because in him
we have the revelation of Jesus, the groom, with his
bride, the Church. This book expresses, in a precious
way, the Christian's spiritual growth, the vision of
the church of Christ, and His love and care for his
bride. It teaches us that the first vision that we have
of the person of Christ is an egoistic vision: "My
beloved is mine, and I am his." In this time,
we think that we are the center of the universe, that
we are the primary target of God's great plan.
---As
we grow in the knowledge of Christ, in the revelation
given by the Father, our vision is reversed. We no longer
see ourselves as the center of everything, but the person
of Christ: "I am my beloved's, and my beloved
is mine." For Him, not for us, were all things
made.
---Even
with this growth in the Christian life and in the Spirit's
work, we still cling to our 'self'. But when we reach
maturity, our 'self' no longer finds any room in this
relationship, only Christ and his love for us: "I
am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me."
---Egoism
does not fit in any relationship. Egoism seeks its own
interest, and when it is not pleased, it begins to gossip
and accuse. Egoism only expects to receive and is never
satisfied; always thinking that the other could have
done more or a better job. Like the Shulamite, in the
book of Song of Solomon, we live most of the time of
our Christian life seeking to be satisfied in other
things, being that the joy and happiness of our heart
was so close. There is nothing and none in the heavens
and on earth that we should desire, but our beloved
Jesus (Palms 73:25).
---When
we reach maturity, it is no longer Him and his things
that are ours, but us and all our things that are His.
Now all things are His; what we have is his love for
us. There is no more room for our egoism. Nothing is
no longer ours. "I have been crucified with
Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives
in me" (Gal. 2:20). All things are His, everything
is for Him.
---There
is nothing that can replace the joy of this love. In
this point of our Christian life, we are no longer interested
in Spiritual gifts, revelations, the power of the Spirit,
healings, prophecies, etc., but only in declaring, to
our brothers, in whom is all our delight (Palms 16:2-3).
---I
feel incapable of expressing with words such great love.
The Spirit has to bring clear revelation to our hearts;
this is his ministry. This precious love is not of word
of mouth, but in fact and truth. Do not desire anything
else besides Him. Nothing can compare to Him: "Set
me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm;
for love is as strong as death, Jealousy as cruel as
the grave; its flames are flames of fire, a most vehement
flame" (Song of Solomon 8:6).
---Our
egoism cannot extinguish our enjoyment of this love.
We are his beloved, let us enjoy this love together.
There is nothing that can replace this love.
